LaPorte County RDC to publish 30‑day notice to sell 14‑acre Kingsbury Industrial Park parcel

The LaPorte County Redevelopment Commission voted Feb. 25 to publish a 30‑day legal notice to sell a 14‑acre parcel in the Kingsbury Industrial Park, setting a minimum bid of $399,500 based on the average of two appraisals. Offers on the property will be taken at the commission’s April 22, 2026 meeting.

Matt Reardon of MCR Partners presented the proposed Legal Notice of Sale and said the notice requires respondents to provide proposed ingress and egress plans and to address the integration or separation of the county 911 communications tower parcel while providing and maintaining access to that tower. "The bidder must provide information relating to proposed ingress and egress to the site and the integration and/or separation of the County 911 Communications Tower parcel (and provide for and maintain access to the tower)," Reardon said.

Reardon said he will list the parcel on LoopNet and other commercial sites but will not collect a brokerage fee. The notice gives respondents 30 days to submit offers before the commission considers them at its April meeting. Staff also noted a Phase I environmental review is available for prospective purchasers to review.

Commissioners discussed how the sale procedure fits the county’s disposition requirements and voted unanimously to publish the legal notice. Reardon clarified that, because the county parcel is tax‑exempt, the parcel itself does not currently contribute to TIF revenues; however, redevelopment of the site is expected to generate taxable improvements that would add to TIF revenue over time.

The commission did not adopt any further conditions at the meeting; the next formal step is publication of the notice and receipt of offers by the April 22 meeting.
