Fullerton Planning Commission elects Valadez as chair and Dino as vice chair

The Fullerton Planning Commission appointed Commissioner Valadez as chair and Commissioner Dino as vice chair during its Feb. 11 meeting.
The city attorney opened the floor for nominations for the position of chair and nominated Commissioner Valadez. Commissioner Valadez said, "I guess I'll vote for myself," and the commission confirmed her appointment by roll call. After the chair transition, the commission opened nominations for vice chair; Commissioner Valadez nominated Commissioner Dino and the commission voted to appoint him.
The city attorney explained the process used: nominations can be made by any commissioner, a second is not required, and the first nominee to receive a majority vote is appointed. Commissioners voted by roll call; the clerk recorded the votes as affirmative for the nominees.
Both appointments took effect immediately at the meeting and will stand until the commission's next internal organization or as otherwise provided by commission rules.
