Family members and community advocates used the meeting's public comment period to press the City Council for transparency about the December 6 officer‑involved shooting that killed 19‑year‑old Albert Arzola.
David Pulido, speaking on behalf of a community organization, demanded release of the full, unedited body‑worn camera video and autopsy report, saying the family and community deserve to know "exactly what really happened." Several speakers described their view that released clips did not tell the full story and urged an outside, independent probe.
Grace Arzola, who identified herself as a family member, told the council: "Be transparent. Come on. You guys have it." She said the family wants the names of the officers involved and an independent investigation, because "it is not okay to investigate yourself." Other speakers said they witnessed or reviewed footage that raises questions about whether lifesaving measures were delayed.
Council members and staff stressed the case is already the subject of external review. Mayor Pro Tem Leon said the Orange County District Attorney's office, the Office of Independent Review and a police review board are involved in the investigation. Council members expressed condolences and said they would continue to push for answers.
No vote or council directive to release additional footage was made during the meeting. Multiple speakers said they will return to future council meetings until the unedited footage and full reports are publicly released.
