Zion ESD 6 hears Master Facility Plan draft and Teaching & Learning update; recognizes retirees

At the May 19 meeting Green Associates presented a draft Master Facility Plan (MFP) for Zion Elementary School District No. 6. The MFP summary included facility assessments, evaluations of educational adequacy, capacity and utilization analysis, and a set of priorities and possible solutions intended to guide capital improvements over the next 20 years.
Earlier in the meeting Director of Teaching & Learning Erik Youngman, joined by Coordinators Kerri Gilbert and Jen Sajovec, presented a Teaching and Learning update that covered library services, Proximity (a virtual instruction option), Career and Technical Education and a recommendation for an MTSS software platform.
Superintendent Julious Lawson recognized the district's 2024-2025 retirees and milestone-anniversary staff members and noted that Stacy Storey of Beulah Park was honored as Classroom Elementary/Childhood Educator at the Lake County Regional Office of Education's May 7 event.
The presentations were informational; the board took no formal vote on the Master Facility Plan draft during the meeting. Board members scheduled a special meeting for June 16 for goal-setting with the superintendent and otherwise received no new updates on taxing bodies, SEDOL or TIF.
