Patricia Hanzo was elected chair of the Fullerton Community Development Citizens Committee and Jose Trinidad Castaneda was elected vice chair during the committee's Feb. 10 meeting; Mindy Kim took the oath of office as a newly appointed member.
The leadership change came after members nominated candidates and carried out roll-call votes. Hanzo, a Fullerton resident serving her eighth and final year on the committee, received the votes needed to be chair. Castaneda was chosen as vice chair. The meeting paused briefly for a two-minute recess to allow the new officers to switch seats.
The new members and officers will oversee the committee’s upcoming work on Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) allocations. At the Feb. 10 meeting, housing staff previewed the 2026–27 grant review process and the schedule for nonprofit presentations. New member Mindy Kim was sworn in by City Clerk Lucinda; Kim said she was appointed by the mayor, that she works as a real-estate broker and has served as executive director of Uniman, a Fullerton-based nonprofit.
Committee members and staff used the introductions and elections to confirm schedules and prepare for the next meeting. Hanzo said the committee will review applicant presentations and funding strategies at the Feb. 24 meeting in City Chambers.
The committee adjourned at 7:11 p.m.
