Woodland planning commission kicks off rules-and-regulations subcommittee

Senior Planner Megan Meyer introduced a subcommittee process to review the Planning Commission's rules and regulations, proposing four meetings that would first address the commission's mission and duties, then work through remaining sections and produce a draft revision for the full commission to consider.
Meyer said staff provided background materials including an article from Strong Towns, Institute for Local Government guidance, excerpts of the Woodland zoning ordinance and relevant general plan policies to help frame the discussion. The subcommittee will meet in a series of four sessions with dates to be scheduled based on member availability and with flexibility for in-person or virtual attendance.
Commissioners expressed support for the review and noted it was timely after more than a decade without an update. Staff will circulate a mission-statement worksheet and convene the first subcommittee meeting.
