Assistant Superintendent of Business Services walked the board through multiyear projections, noting a slight enrollment decrease (one student from certified counts), adjustments to projected COLA for future years and reduced CalPERS rates. Staff emphasized that the district’s negative $18 million presentation is driven by one-time revenues carried forward and one-time expenditures; they asserted the district is not operating a structural deficit for the current fiscal year.
The board unanimously approved the second interim positive certification and the Gordon Ray building renaming after a public hearing and roll call votes. Facilities staff said turf replacements were needed because of safety/traction issues; a combined procurement for two stadium replacements totaled roughly $1.6 million and was approved for summer installation.
Why it matters: the second interim certification confirms the district meets state reporting requirements for fiscal solvency in the near term and allows districts to proceed with planned one-time capital projects. Trustees asked staff to continue conservative multiyear monitoring and to return updates when May Revise numbers are available.
