The La Palma City Council on March 3 adopted a set of 2026 goals and objectives and used the meeting to recognize volunteers and make several appointments.
City Manager presented five overarching goals for 2026 covering fiscal stewardship, public safety, economic development, infrastructure and community engagement; council members moved and unanimously adopted the goals and objectives as presented.
The council presented a Citizen of the Year proclamation honoring Jan Jensen for decades of volunteer service in La Palma; Howard Kummerman of the Cypress College Foundation introduced Jensen and invited residents to the Americana Awards. The council also proclaimed March as Red Cross Month and acknowledged local student volunteers from Kennedy High School for a day‑of‑service project.
Council appointed and reappointed members to the CAP citizen committee, including the reappointment of Noella Lou and appointments of Barapa Parcheta and Valerie Bordeaux.
The council closed with councilmember reports about local events and community activities and adjourned in memory of former Mayor Alan Priest.
