Summary
The council unanimously adopted an amended resolution adjusting account code errors in the fiscal year 2025–26 midyear budget; staff said the changes are bookkeeping corrections that do not alter the net fiscal impact approved in March.
La Palma’s City Council on April 7 unanimously adopted an amended midyear budget resolution for fiscal year 2025–26 to correct account code discrepancies identified after the March approval.
Deputy City Manager Joe Cisneros told the council staff found swapped account codes in several attachments — notably within public works and community development salary accounts — and an incorrect balance in the waterfront utilities account. He said these are accounting corrections and do not change the overall fiscal impact the council approved in March.
Cisneros said the midyear adjustments reduce the general fund’s projected surplus to “just over $13,000” for FY 2025–26. Other fund adjustments are largely offset by salary savings, with the exception of a settlement payment tied to a median project closeout that staff noted as a one‑time cost.
Mayor Pro Tem Debbie Baker moved to adopt the amended resolution; Councilmember Mark Waldman seconded. The City Clerk called the roll and the motion passed unanimously.
The council took no public comment on the item. Staff said they remain available to answer follow‑up questions and will reflect the corrected account codes in the published packet and financial summaries.
