Council presents certificates to local students and a small-business owner

The council used part of its meeting to present certificates of recognition to two students and to honor a local small business.
The mayor introduced Max Freeman and Press Lamas Ritchie of St. John's Episcopal School and described each student's academic and community contributions. A school staff member praised both students for leadership, service learning and positive campus impact.
The council also recognized Jesse Gutierrez, owner of Jesse Moe's Baking Company, acknowledging the business's start in August 2023 and its neighborhood support. Gutierrez said her Instagram handle is Jesse Moe's Baking Co and thanked family, friends and customers for their support.
Each honoree also received congratulatory certificates from state and federal representatives that the mayor read into the record. The council paused to take photos with the honorees and their families.
