During the chair’s report, Commissioner Angelique Peterson Mayberry introduced the inaugural Irma Clark Coleman Distinguished Service Award, honoring the late Irma Clark Coleman’s 50 years of public service. Teresa Moon, the first award recipient, was recognized for neighborhood organizing, grant writing, park stewardship, and the neighborhood bike program. Moon spoke briefly about her decades of local service and thanked the commission and community leaders.
The commission also read memoriams and honored longtime community and political figures. A testimonial resolution recognized Donald Carter, described as the oldest living Tuskegee airman at age 99.
