The Poweshiek County Board of Supervisors on April 9 approved three campground host appointments for the 2026 season after a Conservation Department update on a lake restoration project.
Conservation Director Tylor Nelson told the board he has three individuals to hire as campground hosts and presented certificates of appointment. The employment term for each host runs April 9, 2026, to September 30, 2026.
The board approved the following appointments and pay terms: Melissa Current, Campground Host, $100 per week with an additional $15 per hour for additional duties assigned by the Conservation Director; Richard Moyer, Campground Host, $200 per week with an additional $15 per hour for additional duties; and Monica Moyer, Campground Host, $200 per week with an additional $15 per hour for additional duties.
The motion to approve the certificates of appointment was moved by Supervisor Jacki Bolen and seconded by Supervisor Jeff Tindle; the motion passed 3 ayes. Nelson also provided an update on the lake restoration project but the minutes record no further detail of that update.
The appointments authorize the Conservation Director to supervise campground hosts and assign duties for the upcoming season.
