Summary
Trustees approved retirements and resignations, renewed one teaching contract, authorized coaching hires (one vote 5-1), and approved a $600 stipend for employee Dennis Carter for extra snow-removal hours.
The Eastern Greene Schools board approved multiple personnel actions during its April 13 meeting, including resignations, a contract renewal, coaching hires and a modest stipend for extra winter work.
The board accepted the resignation/retirement of Rhonda Dobson (elementary instructional assistant) and approved the resignation and reduced-hours arrangement for Nicole Chaney; motions for both personnel items passed. The board also approved the annual contract renewal for Ron Straczynski, a high-school math teacher covered under the district’s teachers agreement for retired employees.
Trustees considered and approved multiple coaching appointments for the 2026–27 school year. Among the votes, the board approved Jamie Hudson as varsity boys basketball head coach; the vote was recorded as 5-1-0, indicating one dissent. Other coaching hires approved included Angie Inman (varsity cheer head coach), Amber Reeves (volunteer cheer assistant), and several assistant coaches across boys and girls programs.
The board also approved a $600 stipend for Dennis Carter for additional hours worked during winter snow removal. A district representative explained the stipend as recognition for extra time given that Carter’s supervisory salary structure does not routinely provide overtime: "Dennis is here oftentimes 4AM and, goes above and beyond," the administrator said. Trustees voted to approve the stipend.
In other personnel actions, the board approved the retirement of Gary Jackson as a corporation bus driver effective 04/13/2026 and approved the termination of Rachel Prince as a corporation bus driver effective the same date. All actions were moved and seconded during the meeting and carried by the board’s recorded voice votes.
