Residents urge transparency, after‑school programs and term limits during public comment

Christie Acuna, speaking as a resident and on behalf of RSM Group, told the council she was “very concerned about several decisions this council has made on behalf of the taxpayers,” and said the city’s recently adopted General Plan safety element explicitly promotes after‑school programs and community facilities. Acuna said the Boys & Girls Club, which previously provided after‑school care, “was pushed out after years of serving our children and families” and that the council had not discussed a replacement. She also criticized the council for failing to adopt video recording of meetings, saying residents “deserve to see who's speaking, who's voting, and who's representing.”
Brianne Boyle reiterated concerns about council tenure and asked the council to consider term limits. Other commenters, including Jace Mueller, raised procedural and event‑permitting questions (Mueller asked whether a 50–60 car show on a Saturday would require a conditional-use permit). Several speakers cited federal immigration‑enforcement controversies and urged council members to publicly respond.
Council members thanked speakers and noted staff follow-up where appropriate. No council action was taken on these requests at the meeting; staff directed commenters to follow up with city staff for permit and program questions.
