Staff explained one component of the sales‑tax change was a state determination that point of sale for a Tesla dealer at the mall is not treated as the city’s principal place of negotiation, reducing the city’s share.
Council members praised staff for securing grant awards and asked about ongoing monitoring and potential future adjustments. Council voted unanimously to adopt the recommended mid‑year budget amendments and asked staff to return if further adjustments become necessary.
The city will incorporate remaining grant funds into next year’s budget and monitor revenues through the third quarter and year‑end closeout.
