The Maple School District board on April 13 heard unofficial election and referendum results showing three winning school board candidates and apparent voter approval of a $14.5 million capital referendum.
Administrator Mister Fetchell Connor reported the unofficial tallies: Mister Cowley received 1,699 votes; Catherine Burnett 1,364; Shannon Grayson 1,276; and Chris Schultz 981. Connor said the results were unofficial and would be canvassed at 9 a.m. the following morning.
Connor also reported the referendum totals on the ballot: 1,608 yes votes to 933 no votes, which he characterized as about 63% in favor. "We are grateful for our community support," Connor said, thanking staff and residents who engaged on the project.
The board took no formal vote on the election or referendum during the meeting; the district will complete official canvass procedures as required by statute the next day. Connor said the district anticipates the capital maintenance projects will be staged across 2027 and 2028, with bids and timelines presented to the board in a future meeting.
Next steps include the official canvass and subsequent planning and procurement presentations for the capital work once results are certified.
