The Jefferson School District board voted to award a $145,000 contract to Techni Mechanical for the Jefferson Middle School boiler‑room project.
Facilities staff presented three bids and recommended Techni Mechanical as the lowest responsible bidder. Trustees asked about the reason for replacement (age and issues with the existing heat‑exchange and turndown ratio) and whether the chosen vendor’s equipment would be proprietary or widely serviceable; facilities staff said the recommended vendor services multiple equipment types and is not proprietary.
A motion to approve the project as presented was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. The project is scheduled to proceed this summer, with facilities staff noting the need to coordinate equipment procurement and maintenance planning as part of the capital program.
Administration said it will return with contract documents and a construction schedule and will monitor timing to avoid conflicts with summer activities at the middle school.
