Allendale Land Use Board re-elects officers, sets meetings at 7 p.m. and appoints counsel, engineer and planner

The Allendale Land Use Board completed its annual reorganization on Jan. 15, electing its officers for 2025, approving several professional appointments and adopting its bylaws for the year.

During the opening portion of the meeting the presiding officer asked for nominations for chair, vice chair and secretary and the board voted by roll call to confirm the slate. The board then approved appointments for land use board legal counsel, the board engineer and the board planner. Counsel told the board he had spoken at length with the applicant for a separate item and that the legal office would continue to work with applicants on resolution language as needed.

Board members also adopted the board—s bylaws for 2025 largely unchanged from the prior year, with the explicit exception of the newly approved meeting start time. The board voted to change the regular meeting start from 7:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; the clerk was directed to renotice meeting dates and publish the updated calendar in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act.

The board chair thanked outgoing members and welcomed newly appointed or continuing members who took the oath of office earlier in the evening. The board also confirmed it would circulate consolidated comments on the draft master plan (see separate coverage) and proceed with routine administrative tasks to memorialize the appointments and the bylaws.

The board will publish the updated meeting schedule and the clerk said the revised calendar will be available in the municipal building and on the borough website.
