Measure W projects progressing across Sequoia Union High campuses; Sequoia main building highlighted as complex

District facilities staff updated the Citizen Bond Oversight Committee on Feb. 24 about Measure W project progress across multiple campuses, saying most projects are in design and several major buildings are advancing toward DSA submittal.
"The schedule remains the same. Budget remains the same," said Noreen Naidu, chief facilities officer, describing a steady design program and noting the team is conducting value engineering to stay within budgets while expanding project detail since December.
Naidu said the new Menlo Atherton DE wing will demolish the existing structure and replace it with roughly 30,800 square feet of new classrooms and support space, and that three Manor site projects could overlap in construction. She said the new Sequoia High standalone building could be one of the first projects released from DSA because it does not require demolition or adjacency coordination, while the Sequoia main building renovation will be complex due to historic and seismic retrofit work.
Projects already moving to bid or early construction include a Menlo Atherton multiuse field (DSA review in progress) and the MAHS stadium drainage change that staff flagged as the only change to the project list since December. Naidu said bleacher installation is largely prefabricated and could be installed quickly, though site footing work may extend the schedule.
Committee members asked who controls schedules and whether the committee should be notified if a published schedule changes. Naidu said the district controls schedule during design and that external reviews — notably DSA and CEQA — remain the largest unknowns.
Staff invited the committee to tour active sites with required safety gear and suggested a demo site for a first visit. Members expressed interest in tours and in receiving drone imagery for projects (such as large roofing footprints) that are difficult to view on foot.
Staff emphasized continuous construction sequencing where possible to reduce repeated disruptions to campuses and said future project updates will include any schedule changes and DSA/CEQA developments.
