Administrator Neil Henry told the council he has been working on staffing, engineering proposals and compliance matters since the Feb. 3 meeting and highlighted several items the public should expect in coming weeks.
Henry said the town interviewed one candidate for an in-house engineer and received seven proposals from third-party engineering firms as it assesses potential savings between hiring internally and using consultants. "I've worked on the following since our last council meeting in February 3: interviewed one candidate for the position of in-house engineer and received seven proposals from potential third-party engineers," Henry said.
He said, in response to mandates from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, the administration is preparing communications to prohibit commercial vehicles from using the town recycling center, with a target effective date of April 1. "Based on mandates from the DEP, administration has started work on putting together communiques that would be prohibiting commercial vehicles from using our recycling center. Our target date on that to take effect is April 1," Henry said.
Henry also reported that staff and the town planner are preparing a timeline for what remains to be completed under the state's fourth round of affordable-housing obligations and that the veterans banner committee is seeking about 60 photographs of individuals named on the monument in front of town hall to expedite banner placement.
Henry closed by noting ongoing personnel and litigation matters and said further updates will follow.
The council asked follow-up questions about logistics (for example, parking assistance during storms) and about outreach for veterans-banner photos; Henry said staff would follow up and post lists on the town website.
