Waldwick honors two long-serving public works employees for decades of service

Mayor Thomas A. Giordano presented certificates to two long-serving members of the Waldwick Department of Public Works, thanking them for decades of service to the borough.
"This certificate is awarded with profound gratitude and admiration for your 31 years of employment in the Waldwick Department of Public Works," Giordano said as he read Michael Latorre’s service record, noting Latorre began as a recycler in March 1994, advanced to repairman in 1995, earned water-treatment and distribution licenses and later served as superintendent of public works and wastewater collection.
Giordano also presented a certificate recognizing Marcus for more than 30 years with the department, listing his progression from grounds and recycling work in the early 1990s to road supervisor. The mayor called attention to both employees’ continuing education and licensure milestones, and said each would receive a gift certificate and a framed recognition.
Council members and committee chairs joined the mayor in thanking the employees for their service; the mayor paused the meeting briefly so colleagues and family could take photographs and offer personal thanks.
The presentations were ceremonial and no formal council action was required. The mayor noted both honorees' long residence in Waldwick and praised their contributions to the community’s infrastructure and water systems.
