The Milford City Planning and Zoning Commission on April 8 approved a development to place two duplex units on Parcel 05-15-33, a half-acre property near the old elementary school, and authorized the developer to subdivide the parcel into two lots after construction is complete.
City planning staff explained the project and told commissioners that the building permit has been pulled and the proposal meets applicable zoning requirements. “Matt Sharon is developing two duplexes, and they’re currently gonna be on one parcel,” staff said, adding that the developer will split the parcel into two lots once construction is finished.
Commissioners agreed to ratify an earlier email decision and made a formal motion to approve the development at the meeting. Commissioner Luke moved to approve the proposal and Garland seconded; the commission approved the motion by roll call (ayes: Luke; Nick; Lanae; Dwayne; Garland; Chancey).
Staff said the project will meet setback, parking and lot-size standards for the zone and that the city’s building department will not issue final permits until both building and zoning approvals are complete. The approval effectively allows the developer to proceed with construction and subsequent subdivision under the conditions discussed.
The commission did not identify additional conditions beyond standard permit requirements. The project will proceed to the building department for final inspections and permits.
