Clarke County supervisors approve weekly claims, secondary roads budget and five‑year program; hold closed session

At an April 6 meeting, the Clarke County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved $41,241.75 in weekly claims, adopted the Iowa DOT Secondary Roads Budget and a five‑year program, and briefly met in closed session under Iowa Code 21.5(i) to evaluate the professional competency of an individual.
Chairman Randy Dunbar called the Clarke County Board of Supervisors to order at 10:10 a.m. on April 6 at the Clarke County Courthouse. Supervisor Dean Robins moved to approve the agenda; Supervisor Brian Sorensen seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The board adopted Res 26-050, approving payment of claims submitted from March 31 through April 6, 2026. Supervisor Dean Robins moved the resolution and Supervisor Brian Sorensen seconded. The minutes record fund totals of $20,324.28 for the General Basic Fund, $1,032.42 for the General Supplement Fund, $4,910.78 for the Rural Services Basic Fund and $14,974.27 for the Secondary Road Fund, for a total of $41,241.75. The resolution passed with Supervisors Randy Dunbar, Dean Robins and Brian Sorensen voting yes.
During the meeting the board approved Res 26-051 to go into closed session pursuant to Iowa Code 21.5(i) “to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and that individual requests a closed session.” The roll-call vote to enter closed session was recorded at 10:31 a.m. The record shows the board returned to open session at 10:58 a.m.
After returning to open session, the board approved Res 26-052, adopting the Iowa Department of Transportation Secondary Roads Budget. Supervisor Dean Robins moved the resolution and Supervisor Brian Sorensen seconded; the motion was approved unanimously. The board then approved Res 26-053, adopting the Iowa Department of Transportation Secondary Roads Five‑Year Program, on a motion by Supervisor Brian Sorensen and a second from Supervisor Dean Robins.
With no further agenda items, Supervisor Dean Robins moved to adjourn; Supervisor Brian Sorensen seconded. The meeting adjourned at 11:15 a.m. The minutes were signed by Chairman Randy Dunbar and attested by Auditor Jessica Graves.
