Staff member Heather (S4) presented a list of items she recommended for completion before June: roof repairs (replacing screws, sealing, and patching underlayment rips), replacing insulation and lights in the vehicle bay, installing self-flushing ADA-compliant toilets at the park, and replacing old fluorescent fixtures in the shop and cemetery. Heather told the council that two plumbers and one roofer had already visited the site and that additional contractors were scheduled to provide bids.
Committee member (S3) moved to approve spending in concept and to proceed with obtaining bids; the council agreed that formal acceptance of work would occur after the bid process and a subsequent council vote. Members emphasized preserving storage and town vehicles housed in the old fire station and avoiding further water damage; one member suggested prioritizing repairs that prevent asset loss.
Council members also discussed potential cost-saving measures for lighting, noting previous successful programs with utilities to replace fixtures. Staff will collect bids and return a recommendation to council for formal approval.
No final contract awards or dollar amounts were approved at the meeting; council action authorized staff to solicit bids and prepare a formal recommendation when bids are received.
