Beardstown City Council approves appointments, omnibus consent agenda; mayor notes Memorial Day closure

Beardstown, Ill. — The Beardstown City Council met in regular session at Beardstown City Hall on May 20, 2025, and approved the minutes from its May 6 meeting, an omnibus consent agenda and two personnel appointments before adjourning at 6:23 p.m.
Mayor Tim Harris called the meeting to order at 6:18 p.m. and City Clerk Katie Vitale confirmed a quorum. During the public comment period the council recorded that there were no public comments.
A motion by Alderperson Mary Davis, seconded by Alderperson Eric Harbin, to dispense with the reading of the May 6 minutes and approve them as published passed unanimously by voice vote.
Under an omnibus roll call vote, the council approved the consent agenda. The omnibus vote also carried two appointments: a motion by Alderperson Keith Schramm, seconded by Alderperson Mary Davis, to appoint Dustin Looker as Beardstown Public Works Director was approved unanimously; and a motion by Alderperson Eric Harbin, seconded by Alderperson Allie Dawson, to designate Katherine "Katie" Vitale as the IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund) Authorized Agent also passed unanimously. The transcript identifies Katherine "Katie" Vitale elsewhere as City Clerk Katie Vitale.
Mayor Harris reminded the council that Beardstown City offices would be closed Monday for Memorial Day and said he was pleased with the results of the recent citywide clean-up. With no further business, the council adjourned on a motion by Alderperson Eric Harbin, seconded by Alderperson Mary Davis.
Votes at a glance: the minutes approval passed unanimously by voice vote; the consent agenda, the appointment of Dustin Looker as Public Works Director, and the designation of Katie Vitale as IMRF Authorized Agent all passed unanimously by roll call vote under the Omnibus Vote Designation.
The council did not receive public comment and took no other formal actions at the May 20 meeting.
