Willoughby — Mayor Robert A. Fiala told Council on March 17 that the City and five neighboring municipalities have met with the Lake County Engineer to discuss replacement and long-term maintenance of lighting along the Route 2 corridor. The group hopes to reach a final agreement by July 1 identifying who will fund lighting repairs and cover annual maintenance costs.
Fiala said the municipalities’ shared position is that the lighting is the county’s responsibility; he characterized portions of the county’s proposed maintenance agreement as problematic and said the municipalities are prepared to press the issue. He said a follow-up meeting was scheduled for April.
Fiala also announced a State of the City event on March 25 that will include all department directors and chiefs and is intended to engage residents directly about city priorities.
