The Elko City Council conditionally adopted two resolutions July 22 to vacate adjacent portions of Arikard Boulevard right-of-way as part of a realignment tied to recent construction.
Kathy (staff) explained the properties — roughly 80,266 square feet (to be vacated to Elko West Properties LLC) and about 58,865 square feet (the city's portion) — were dedicated under an earlier alignment but are no longer needed after the arterial was redesigned for topography and cost. Staff said utilities were notified and did not require continued easements; a power transmission line runs perpendicular and is covered by an existing easement unrelated to the vacated areas.
The vacated parcels are triangular and steep in places; staff said the land is generally unusable for city purposes but could be integrated into adjacent private development and that Elko West Properties plans to seek acquisition and coordinate a county easement for an aligned Arikard/Archery Range Road connection.
Council adopted Resolution 4-25 (vacation to Elko West Properties LLC) and Resolution 5-25 (city portion) conditionally, and staff outlined follow-up steps to coordinate easements with Elko County and to document utility clearances.
