The Carbon County Board of Commissioners adopted a proclamation recognizing Pennsylvania 4‑H Week and invited 4‑H members and leaders to the podium to introduce themselves and describe county programs.
Gail Wilson, who introduced herself as a 4‑H educator for Carbon County, told the board the county has four year‑round 4‑H clubs and highlighted project areas from animal science to STEM: "My name is Gail Wilson and I'm a 4 h educator for Carbon County." Several youth described their projects: one student said, "I've been in 4 H for 10 years" and listed projects including a market steer, poultry and rabbits; another spoke about quilting and crafts.
Jennifer Mercero of Penn State Extension thanked the commissioners for continued support and noted the county would act later on a related agreement to continue extension services. Commissioners praised volunteers and encouraged the public to attend the fair and support youth auctions and projects.
The proclamation and youth presentations were intended to spotlight the educational and leadership benefits 4‑H provides and to show how county funding and extension partnerships support local programming.
