Following a closed executive session for personnel and student matters, the Columbia CUSD 4 board returned to open session and approved three personnel actions by roll call.
First, the board approved a transitional contract for Dr. Gainey to become the district superintendent for the 2026–27 school year. The motion was made from the floor, seconded and approved unanimously among the members present.
Second, the board approved the administrative raises "as presented." A separate motion to approve nonunion/noncertified raises also passed by unanimous roll call. The board did not provide individual raise amounts during the public meeting.
Chair formally welcomed Dr. Gainey as the district’s future superintendent; Dr. Gainey thanked the board for the selection. The motions followed the district’s executive session deliberations and were announced immediately upon resumption of open session.
Next steps: The district will finalize the transitional contract paperwork and execute compensation changes per the adopted motions; the board asked administration to carry forward contract details with appropriate public notice as required.
