Garden City council reports highlight trails, downtown improvements and a $125,000 grant

Council Member Brad Davis said the county trails board open house in Garden City was well attended and that efforts to rehabilitate trails in Hodges Canyon and Richardson are moving forward; he also said the Bear 100 race will again route through Garden City Canyon and he will assist with race permitting. Council Member Dan Larsen reported on the Envision Garden City workshop, noting attendees prioritized curb-and-gutter and downtown improvements in three main blocks and that the committee hopes to use tax revenues for those improvements; a follow-up meeting is scheduled for May. Council Member Susann House reported the library addition construction is progressing. Council Member Pat Argyle said Raspberry Days preparations are on schedule and that new playground equipment will be installed near the Pickleball Court.
Mayor Michael Leonhardt announced Garden City received a $125,000 Governor's Economic Development Grant that requires a 10% local match and requested council input on potential downtown uses. Mayor Leonhardt also presented a letter of support for Foothill Estates Subdivision to seek federal/congressional funding for road and infrastructure improvements; Council Member Dan Larsen moved to approve the letter and Council Member Susann House seconded. The council voted unanimously to approve the letter of support.
The council also approved payment vouchers and adjourned at 6:42 p.m.
