Dunlap Community Unit School District #323’s Board of Education convened May 21 and approved a series of budgetary and personnel measures, including payment of $6,316,416.72 in district bills and multiple contracts for Wilder‑Waite Elementary.
Superintendent Dr. Scott Dearman opened the administrative portion of the meeting with scheduling and personnel notes. "The last day of school is tomorrow. All buildings will dismiss one hour early," he said, and he presented retirement plaques to Gregory (Greg) Fairchild and Dr. Scott Adreon.
The board voted to pay the bills and accept routine finance reports after a motion by Mick Hall and a second from Andrew Tyra. The board then approved a resolution to intervene in a property tax appeal and voted to award both a construction management contract and an architectural services contract for Wilder‑Waite Elementary. The board also approved a districtwide 2025 Chromebook hardware refresh and accepted a 2024–2027 DSPA contract.
Personnel and compensation actions were prominent. The board approved raises for non‑certified staff and ratified multiple administrator contract renewals. A motion to approve administrator salary adjustments passed on a roll call vote with five members in favor and one dissent: Theresa Holshouser voted Nay on the salary adjustments; all other recorded votes were Aye. After convening a closed session for personnel, negotiations, student disciplinary matters, property and litigation, the board returned to open session and approved the Human Resources consent agenda.
The personnel packet approved at the meeting listed numerous new hires—including Rebecca Hansen as principal at Banner Elementary School (effective July 1, 2025)—and recorded separations and retirements, notably the retirements of Gregory James Fairchild (effective June 30, 2025) and Dr. Scott Adreon (effective June 30, 2025). Other new hires and transfers across buildings were recorded in the HR lists presented to the board.
