At its Dec. 11 meeting the Ulster County Law & Rules Committee approved multiple routine resolutions and confirmations. Highlights follow.
- Res. 565: Approved a local law opting Ulster County into the New York State real property tax exemption for qualifying multifamily rental housing, limited to parcels in the City of Kingston. (Public hearing Dec. 3 — no speakers.)
- Res. 566: Approved a local law amending the county charter and administrative code relating to legislative term of office to clarify application of a shortened partial term.
- Res. 567: Approved changing the Department of Emergency Communications, Emergency Management to the Department of Emergency Services.
- Res. 568: Approved applying 2026 salary revisions to county officers serving fixed terms.
- Res. 637: Approved a contract amendment with Hart Intercivic Inc. (Board of Elections) where the aggregate contract plus amendment exceeds $50,000.
- Res. 638 and Res. 639: Confirmed appointments of Adam Sessler as director of the Department of Risk Management and Edward Moran as Ulster County historian, respectively.
- Res. 647: Set the organizational meeting for 2026 (Jan. 6 at 6:30 p.m.).
- Res. 650: Authorized an agreement with Ulster County BOCES to provide one additional deputy sheriff as a school resource officer; deputy executive staff said the request was late but required no budget modification and the officer could begin after the holiday break.
- Res. 651: Authorized accepting NYSDOT funds for shared public transit service (approx. $360,000 anticipated reimbursement).
