Clinton County honors 16‑year‑old for lifesaving CPR

The Clinton County Board of Commissioners on April 9 presented Proclamation No. 9 honoring 16‑year‑old Leila Melody of Jersey Shore High School for performing lifesaving CPR on her grandfather during a cardiac emergency.
The proclamation described Melody’s quick actions and said she ‘‘demonstrated remarkable skill, courage, and presence of mind under extreme pressure.’’ Family members and community supporters joined the presentation; a representative of the Clinton County Department of Emergency Services presented Melody with a CPR pin and urged others to take CPR classes. A family member told the board that without Melody’s actions the outcome might have been tragic.
Commissioners invited supporters to come forward for photos and thanked local fire and EMS personnel for their response. Melody was congratulated publicly and the proclamation was approved by voice vote.
