Mark Weaver, introduced to the board as representing the Bottega/Baldigo Valley Trail, told the commissioners on April 9 that volunteers and county support have been essential to the trail’s development and maintenance.
"We would not have a trail and it would not be what we have had it not been for you," Weaver said, thanking the board for its assistance. He outlined near‑term plans: a volunteer work day on April 19 (rain date April 26), participation in an Ironman race through Mill Hall, placement of donated railroad signs, installation of a commercial bicycle pump and production of a new trail map showing existing, proposed and planned sections. Weaver invited residents to the trail group’s membership meeting on May 12 at the Piper Building and said the group is preparing a membership form with dues proposed to begin in January.
Commissioners thanked Weaver and volunteers for trash pickup, mulch spreading, installation of benches and mile markers and encouraged continued partnership between county recreation staff and the Friends group.
