Columbia County commissioners approve multiple hires and step increases

Columbia County Commissioners voted unanimously Feb. 5 to approve several personnel actions and to accept the minutes of their previous meeting.
Commissioner Brewer called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. in the Commissioners Conference Room at 700 Sawmill Road. A motion by Commissioner Karschner to approve the minutes was seconded by Treasurer Creveling and carried without objection.
The board then approved a set of salary and step changes for four employees. Treasurer Creveling moved to approve the personnel list; Commissioner Kovach seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The personnel actions approved were: Lukas Reynolds, Telecommunicator, ECEN, six-month step effective Feb. 10, 2026, $20.18 per hour; Hunter Weaver, full-time corrections officer (Jail), four-year step effective Feb. 13, 2026, $26.41 per hour; Tyler Rice, full-time corrections officer (Jail), six-month step effective Jan. 21, 2026, $21.15 per hour; and Seth Moyer, transfer to IT Support Specialist in IT effective Feb. 17, 2026, $23.60 per hour.
The commissioners also approved the hire of Mattea Dunn as a probation officer in the Juvenile unit, effective Feb. 17, 2026, at $21.37 per hour. That motion was made by Commissioner Brewer, seconded by Commissioner Karschner, and approved by all present.
With no further business, Commissioner Kovach moved to adjourn; Commissioner Brewer seconded and the motion carried. Chief Clerk David J. Witchey attested to the minutes.
