The Township of Edison Board of Adjustment elected officers and approved professional consultants at a special meeting on Jan. 27, 2026, moving quickly through organizational business before hearing two variance applications.
The board approved a vice chairman by motion (moved by Mr. Schneider, seconded by Mr. Patel), then voted to name Rachel Vergheario as board secretary. The board also voted to appoint Lindsay Knight as a professional planner and Delaware Route and Engineering as the board's professional engineer. Appointees thanked the board for the appointments.
The organizational votes were conducted by roll call without further substantive debate. The chair reminded attendees that the board is a quasi‑judicial land‑use body subject to the Municipal Land Use Law and reviewed public‑comment rules, witness swearing, and time limits.
After appointments and announcements, the board carried two unrelated cases to later dates and opened testimony on two new matters on the evening's agenda. The meeting then proceeded to hear variance applications at 17 Jean Place and 22 Augusta Avenue.
