Commissioners approve quitclaim deed to railroad, USPS lease and right‑of‑way relocation

Fayette County commissioners on Feb. 17 approved several property and administrative transactions to be placed on the agenda and passed unanimously.
Acting Chief Clerk Cristi Spiker presented a Relocation of Right‑of‑Way Agreement with Chestnut Ridge Counseling Services, Inc.; commissioners approved placing the agreement on the agenda and discussed that the county would relocate the right‑of‑way from the north side to the south side of the road on property owned by Chestnut Ridge so the organization can utilize the parcel. Solicitor Jack Purcell noted the county will reserve any possible rights as part of the agreement.
Commissioners also approved placing on the agenda a lease agreement with the U.S. Postal Service (documents attached to the agenda packet) and a Quit Claim Deed transferring a disputed county parcel to the Southwest Pennsylvania Railroad Company for the nominal sum of $1. Commissioner Scott Dunn explained the parcel was unusable for county purposes and transferring it to the railroad would allow use as a railyard. Finally, the board approved an increase in the Fayette County Zoning Hearing Board daily rate from $50 to $100.
All motions were moved by Commissioner Harry Dutch Kaufman, seconded by Commissioner Vince Vicites, and recorded as unanimous votes. The property transactions will proceed according to the attached agreements and be returned for ratification on the formal agenda.
