MCHS reports highest AP scores in five years and $758,249 in dual-credit savings for families

Dr. Phillip Pakowski reported to the Minooka Community High School District 111 board on Sept. 17 that this year’s Advanced Placement results are the strongest the district has seen in the past five years.
At the same presentation, Dr. Pakowski said 1,738 students are scheduled this school year to take Dual Credit courses through Joliet Junior College (JJC), the University of St. Francis or Loyola University Chicago — a participation level he identified as producing an estimated $758,249 in tuition savings for MCHS families. The district provided the Advanced Placement five‑year summary and dual‑credit enrollment figures in the board packet.
Dr. Pakowski also reported results for the State Seal of Biliteracy: in addition to Spanish, one student earned a Seal in Ukrainian last year and 33 students earned the Seal in American Sign Language. He noted that the Seal appears on students’ high school transcripts and that some state institutions will allow it to count toward college language credit.
Board members received the presentation as part of the packet; no formal action was required at the meeting. The board packet contained detailed summaries of AP outcomes, dual‑credit enrollments and the State Seal of Biliteracy results.
