Planning staff said Miss Jahanie contacted staff requesting extra time because her contractor is not yet ready; staff recommended a one-year extension. A council member asked what options would be available if the property remained undeveloped at the end of the extension; planning staff said the city would require another agreement that could return the property to the city. Council approved the one-year extension.
Why it matters: The extension preserves the owners’ opportunity to build while keeping the city’s options to reclaim the property if construction does not proceed after the additional year.
