Pike County commissioners approve multiple fund payments, grants and contracts in routine meeting

The Pike County Board of Commissioners on March 18 approved a slate of payments, vendor agreements and grant-related contracts and heard several community announcements.
The board voted to authorize payments from multiple county funds, including a general fund payment of $1,197,674.49, a bridge repair fund payment of $43,460.52 and a $98,092.89 draw from the Pike County Employees Health Insurance Fund. Commissioners also approved an actuarial fee to Foster & Foster for $5,627.
In other actions the board authorized the chief clerk to execute a national opioid settlement on behalf of the county and approved a HOME program payment voucher for $5,907.50 payable to Action Properties Incorporated on behalf of the Office of Human Services. The board also authorized the chairman to execute a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) subrecipient agreement for a job-creation program with Woodblock Pines Incorporated and approved a 2024 CDBG program payment voucher for $50,000 to that organization.
The Office of Human Services vouchers for homeless assistance ($332.22), FAIR ($825) and the human services development fund ($3,254) were approved. The board authorized COSTAR proposals from LJ Bogomel Incorporated for work on the administration primary server room.
The meeting included brief public questions about an application to the National Park Service and the status of a cancer respite facility. Commissioners said the NPS application was submitted and confirmed a groundbreaking for the cancer respite project is scheduled for May 7. The board also announced community events including a Penn State Extension volunteer fair and a fishing derby at Lily Pond.
Votes at a glance: all motions recorded in the meeting were approved by voice vote. The transcript records unanimous "Aye" responses for each procedural motion and financial authorization. The meeting recessed into and later adjourned the salary board during which a salary ordinance and an increase for a promoted employee were approved.
