Congressional representative tells Pike County: submit community-project funding requests by March 6

Tyler, a representative from the congresswoman’s office, told Pike County commissioners the office is accepting community-project funding requests from counties, municipalities and qualifying nonprofits and urged local applicants to act quickly.

"Projects need to be submitted to our office by, March 6, which is this Friday," Tyler said, describing the tight turnaround for the district’s appropriations process and urging applicants to contact the district office with project proposals. He said the office distributes information to community foundations — including the Pike County Community Foundation — and maintains a sign-up link on the district website for notices and application materials.

Commissioners discussed local infrastructure priorities that they plan to submit for consideration, including bridge work in Lehman Township (Winona Falls Bridge, Creek Road and Sugar Mountain). The chair said a $3 million request had been directed toward a community career-technical institute project in a recent round and that the county is prioritizing bridge projects by need and feasibility.

Tyler gave the office webpage (residenthand.house.gov) as a point of contact and said staff would meet with local economic-development officials to review potential projects. He encouraged municipalities and nonprofits to contact the district office directly if they have proposals or questions.
