Committee approves settlement in Michelle Ozaribo employment case; chair asks for outside legal-fee totals

Chair Claire Kelly said she had pulled the item at the prior council meeting and asked staff to provide the public with a basic explanation of the nature of the lawsuit and the total cost for outside legal counsel in addition to the settlement amount. “Some basic explanation for the public of the nature of the lawsuit. And can we also get the total cost besides the settlement, paid in, like, third party, attorneys?” Kelly asked.
Staff responded that the matter was based on an employment issue and said they would look up the outside legal-fee totals and provide them to the committee. “We did put in here that it was based on an employment matter,” staff said. “I can look those numbers up and get it to you.”
The committee moved and seconded the resolution; the chair called for a voice vote and reported the motion passed 5-0.
