The member said they had exchanged communications with staff and wanted to ensure due diligence to rule solar out only after evaluation.
Staff responded that the contractor being hired to replace roofs is not a solar installer and that solar installation would likely need to be pursued separately, but agreed a new roof is an appropriate time to pursue solar feasibility. “This contract … is not a solar installer,” staff said, but confirmed they would look into solar opportunities after replacement.
The committee moved and seconded the contract award; on a voice vote the motion passed and the chair declared the item approved.
