Lincoln County commissioners approve routine contracts, funding letters and staffing actions
Summary
At its Aug. 4 meeting the Board approved vouchers, several contracts and funding agreements, critical-needs and staffing actions, a letter on the E911 surcharge, and a motorcycle race permit; several items (VOCA funding, SIXCO, Alamo Industrial Park sale, City of Caliente library agreement) were tabled.
The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 4 approved a slate of routine financial, contract and staffing items and handled several tablings.
Recorder/Auditor Amy Elmer reported county fund balances, including a General Fund balance of $3,866,426.72 and a short negative balance in the Vehicle Capital Projects fund of $10,788.92 that will be corrected by transfer. The Board approved vouchers in two votes: first to approve the vouchers with the exception of a payment to Pearson Brothers, and then a separate vote to approve the Pearson Brothers voucher in which Commissioner Keith Pearson abstained.
Among other actions the Board unanimously approved advertising and hiring an administrative assistant for Lincoln County Human Services; approved an interlocal amendment for the Medicaid County Match Program; accepted SB118/SFY26-27 public-health funds from the State of Nevada in the amount of $20,206.30; and approved a contract with Sunrise Engineering for engineering services at the Alamo Sports Complex.
The Board also approved a letter to telecommunications carriers concerning the E911 surcharge, adopted a retroactive critical-needs designation for a jailer position effective May 1, 2025, and confirmed Janine Woodworth and Diane Path as first and second liaisons, respectively, to the Nevada Site Specific Advisory Board. The Nevada State Racing Association Hot Springs Grand Prix motorcycle race was approved for Aug. 22–23, 2025 at Panaca Spring using a revised map presented to the Board.
Requests and items tabled included a sales agreement for the Alamo Industrial Park (appraisal and flood-control language pending), a City of Caliente library agreement, a request for $10,150 for Victim Witness Services (VOCA) to be funded from county resources (the Board agreed to identify potential funding sources but took no action), and an agenda item regarding SIXCO.
