Lincoln County approves shared juvenile probation officer position with White Pine County

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 4 approved the county’s juvenile probation needs, including reimbursement for FY2025 to White Pine County, reimbursement arrangements for FY2026 and the hiring of a juvenile probation officer to be shared equally with White Pine County.
Judge Dylan Frehner participated via web and described the arrangement: the position will spend roughly half its time in Lincoln County, with other juvenile probation officers covering LC when necessary. The position was advertised in the Lincoln County Record and in White Pine County and remains open until filled. Current pay was described as approximately $28 to $31 per hour; with public-employee retirement (PERS) and other costs, Lincoln County’s portion next year was estimated in the range of $30,000 to $50,000.
Commissioner Lisa Poulsen moved to approve the hire and reimbursement arrangements; Commissioner Mike Reese seconded the motion and the Board voted unanimously in favor.
The Board noted White Pine County’s policy limiting hires to step 3 and that this year Lincoln County paid about 10% of the position; next fiscal year the county will be charged 50% of the position cost. There was no application deadline; the position will remain open until filled.
