Dr. Salcedo presented two items: a three‑year extension for McGraw‑Hill StudySync (grades 6‑8, English and Spanish components) and a three‑year renewal with Benchmark (Advanced/Adelante) for TK‑5.
Staff said the current adoption remains appropriate for immediate use and that the district will follow the state adoption cycle when the state releases an approved list in roughly three years. Digital licenses are structured so payments occur in thirds over three years to ensure vendor support for digital access; staff said they withhold full payment until annual digital support is validated. Board members asked about cultural relevance vetting, teacher input, evidence of efficacy and local adaptations; Dr. Salcedo described internal vetting, piloting, use of external review sources (including edreports.org) and supplemental programs (Heggerty, UFLI) to fill gaps in phonemic awareness.
The board moved and approved both curriculum contracts.
