The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously May 21 to approve a permit for the Southern Nevada Off‑Road Enthusiasts’ (SNORE) Caliente 250 offroad truck and buggy race, scheduled for May 30–31, 2025.
Chair Janine Woodworth called the special session to order at 8:01 a.m. and Clerk Lisa Lloyd confirmed a quorum with Commissioners Mike Reese (via phone), Diane Path (via phone), Keith Pearson (via phone) and Lisa Poulsen (via phone) present. Commissioner Diane Path moved to approve the SNORE Caliente 250 permit; Commissioner Keith Pearson seconded and the motion passed with all commissioners voting in favor.
The motion approved the event permit as presented; the transcript records the motion as "approve the Southern Nevada Off‑Road Enthusiasts (SNORE) Caliente 250 offroad truck and buggy race scheduled for May 30‑31, 2025." The board did not record additional conditions or a budgetary allocation in the session minutes.
During public comment following the vote, Connie Simkins, a member of the public, said SNORE "is a very good partner," noting many members have local ties and that the organization restores roads used for the race to pre‑race condition and has assisted local residents with tasks such as fencing. Commissioner Keith Pearson agreed with Simkins’ assessment. The record does not show any opposing public comments.
There were no other formal actions on the agenda. With no further business, Chair Woodworth adjourned the meeting at 8:18 a.m.
