Butler County supervisors adopt Child Abuse Awareness proclamation, approve fireworks permit and claims docket

Chairman Greg Barnett called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. and the board unanimously approved the agenda and the minutes from the March 31, 2026 meetings. No public comment was received.
Terri Halbach, presenting on behalf of Visions for Wellbeing, presented the Child Abuse Awareness proclamation. Rusty Eddy moved to adopt the proclamation and Wayne Dralle seconded; the motion carried with all ayes.
The board also acknowledged quarterly reports from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, the County Recorder’s report of fees collected and the Auditor’s cash report and directed those documents be placed on file. Rusty Eddy moved and Wayne Dralle seconded; the board voted unanimously to place the reports on file.
The supervisors approved an application for a display-of-fireworks permit in unincorporated Butler County for a specified date of Aug. 29, 2026. Wayne Dralle made the motion; Rusty Eddy seconded; the vote was unanimous.
The board approved the claims docket for March 1–31, 2026. The itemized list recorded in the minutes contains multiple departmental and vendor payments across county functions. Notable line items in the docket include a $109,797.19 software charge to Tyler Technologies Inc.; other recorded vendor payments span maintenance, utilities, vehicle repairs and professional services. The motion to approve claims was made by Wayne Dralle and seconded by Greg Barnett; it passed with all ayes.
The board acknowledged receipt of multiple manure management plan short-form annual updates for listed sites. The meeting adjourned at 9:07 a.m., to reconvene April 14, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
Leslie Groen, Butler County Auditor, noted that it appears newspapers may be purchased and consolidated into a single county publication; Rusty Eddy said local reporting indicated consolidation and that there were no interruptions in weekly circulation.
