Summary
The board approved minutes and multiple budget amendments and an amended grant ordinance on the consent agenda; staff updated the board on NCDOT paving of Cramer Mountain Road, downtown parking planning following the Masonic Lodge closing, police response to homelessness and upcoming Parks events.
The Town of Cramerton Board of Commissioners approved the consent agenda on Sept. 2, which included the Aug. 5 meeting minutes, Budget Amendments #4–#7 for GASB 87 implementation, Budget Amendments #8–#9 for capital project closing and ARPA grant funds, and an amendment to Grant Ordinance 2021-02.
Commissioner Atkinson moved to approve the consent agenda; Commissioner Neeley seconded and the motion passed 4-0. The board later approved other routine motions with full attendance once Commissioner Abernathy arrived.
During the manager’s report, Town Manager David Pugh said the N.C. Department of Transportation had completed paving on Cramer Mountain Road and staff would follow up on painting the fog line and adding bike-share markings. Pugh reported the closing on the Masonic Lodge had occurred and staff were soliciting bids for downtown parking and promenade-style materials; bids may take four to six weeks. Parks and Recreation reported Goat Island Utility Bridge repairs should begin in about a week and that the bridge should remain open during the work. Eric Smallwood said the fishing tournament and Arbor Day celebration are scheduled for Sept. 18; he also noted he will be out of town and asked that Rachel Andrea be contacted during his absence.
Police Chief Brad Adams updated the board on the homelessness situation near the Market Street shopping center, saying the department is working with the property management company and a no-trespassing agreement has been signed; individuals found trespassing may face arrest and charging. The Planning Director was absent; Attorney Karen Wolter had nothing to report. The clerk reported positively on the Cramerton Historical Society Museum grand opening.
