Ben told the council that the city’s housing fund—originally pledged as $145,000 in 2023 and an additional $242,000 the following year—helped create five new community land trust (CLT) homes and two affordable homes in the Traverse Green development. Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership requested flexibility to shift some pledged CLT funds to improve the marketability and affordability of two non‑CLT units. Ben said staff would not be pledging new money but would reallocate existing commitments to meet current construction costs; the council approved the resolution authorizing the designation.
Separately, staff solicited proposals for the city’s year‑long comprehensive-plan process, the “Saint Peter 2050” plan. Two firms submitted bids; staff scored proposals using a 100‑point rubric and recommended Bolton & Menk as the consultant. The council approved contracting with Bolton & Menk to lead the process and urged broad resident engagement during the planning year.
Both measures passed by roll call without recorded opposition.
